Looser Sense of self

Opening 07.01.2017 5-8pm

Closing 07.30.2017 2-5pm

Looser Sense of Self is a two person exhibition featuring the work of Megan Mueller and Sam Scharf. This exhibition seeks to present artwork using presentation as content for the purpose of questioning authorship and authenticity.   Artworks will be placed specifically throughout the space highlighting the role of spacing as well as the theater that is created by proximity. This placement will engage visitors to draw connection, to make and understand relationships.

Megan Mueller will present a series of collages created from xeroxed copies of flower arrangement books. Manipulating these found images, Mueller creates abstracted and visually promiscuous compositions riffing on the arrangement of flowers.

Sam Scharf will present a series of drawings made in shipment of the materials to the exhibition space. Scharf will Fedex three separate packages with a blank piece of paper affixed to the back of the package. Inside of the package, chalk, pigment and graphite will mark the paper as it moves through the delivery system to the gallery.
